the beginning

OK SO i have always been in to scale modelling of one type or another but have never been
commited enough to finish much.I have therefore decided to start a blog to try and keep momentum on a few projects and finish them.....

In the hot seat today we have this fab 1/48th scale Candlewick Cottage from www.petite-properties.com that I picked up at the NEC
last weekend at minitura whilst trailing around behind the wife.this house kit

Having opened the packet I have found a very nicely cut and labelled set of parts and some mice clear instructions. The only thing I dont like is that the instructions are based on assembling the unpainted kit where as to get the best results you need to paint as you go-to be fair at least this kits instructions tell you this at the start!

Having glued the first couple of parts together I chose to basecoat with a mix of DecoArt Americana White Wash and Taffy Cream to give a pale basecoat.

I then painted the framework with a couple of coats on Crafters Black Noir making sure I covered every visible edge with a good thick layer (having chosen to attempt a Tudor style finish to the house).

Now that is drying (and having made sure it isnt stuck to the newspaper) I am off to find a cuppa tea!
